We sell a report about what AI assistants say about your business. To make one, we need a few facts about that business and a way to email you the result. This page says exactly what we collect, who else touches it, and how long we keep it.
01Who we are
Answerlit is an independent AI visibility audit service, based in Mexico. Answerlit is the responsable for the personal data described on this page.
For anything about your data, including any request to see, correct, or delete it, email hola@answerlit.com. A person reads that inbox.
02What we collect
We collect four separate things, depending on what you do on the site. We do not buy data about you from anyone else.
If you order an audit
The intake form asks for your business name, website domain, city, industry, an optional focus, optional competitor names, optional notes, plus your name and email address. Your name and email are personal data. The rest describes your business, and it is what the audit actually measures.
If you run the free instant check
We store your business name, domain, city, industry and email address, the exact question we sent to the AI assistant, the answer it gave, and the sources it cited. We also store a one way hash of your IP address, salted and rotated daily. We never store your raw IP address. The hash exists so we can enforce the daily limits that stop one visitor from draining the budget that pays for everyone else's check.
If you download the sample report
We store your email address, your business name if you give it, which language version you asked for, and the page that referred you.
If you pay
Stripe processes the payment. Your card number never reaches our servers and we never see it. We store the Stripe session and payment identifiers so we can match your payment to your order, and the amount you paid.
03Why we use it
- To deliver what you bought. Your business details are the input to the audit. Your email is where the report goes.
- To stop abuse of the free check. Every free check spends real money on an API call, so we cap them per visitor, per email, and per day.
- To keep records we are required to keep. Payment records, receipts, and tax records.
- To understand how the site is used in aggregate, so we can make it clearer.
We do not sell your data. We do not share it with advertisers. We do not use it to build a profile of you across other websites.
04What we send to AI assistants
This is the part worth reading closely, because it is the whole product.
To run your audit we send buyer style questions to four external AI services: OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, and Perplexity. Those questions contain your business name, your city, your industry, and any competitors you named. They are written the way a real customer would ask, because a question a customer would never ask measures nothing useful.
We do not send your personal contact details to any AI provider. Your name, your email address, and your private notes to us stay out of every prompt.
These four providers state that data sent through their paid APIs is not used to train their models by default. We rely on that, but they are independent companies and their terms are their own.
The free instant check works the same way, with one question sent to one provider.
05Who else touches your data
We are a small operation and we use a small number of established services. These are all of them.

We will also disclose data if the law genuinely requires it. If Answerlit is ever sold or transferred, your data moves with it, and this policy continues to apply until you are told otherwise.
06Cookies
We use PostHog for analytics, and it sets cookies to recognise a returning browser. That is the only cookie category on this site. We run no advertising cookies, no retargeting pixels, and no cross site tracking.
You can block cookies in your browser settings and everything on the site except the analytics will keep working normally.
07How long we keep it
- Orders and delivered reports: 24 months after delivery, so we can handle payment disputes, tax records, and a re-send if you lose your copy.
- Free instant checks: 12 months, then deleted.
- Sample report requests: 12 months, then deleted.
- Payment records held by Stripe: for as long as Stripe's own retention rules and our tax obligations require.
If you ask us to delete your data sooner, we will, except for the minimum payment records we are legally required to retain.
08Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us to:
- Tell you what data we hold about you
- Correct anything that is wrong
- Delete it
- Send you a copy in a portable format
- Stop using it for a particular purpose
Email hola@answerlit.com and we will respond within 30 days. We will not charge you for it and we will not make you explain why.
09Where your data lives
Our database and our service providers are based in the United States, so your data is stored and processed there. If you are writing to us from Mexico, the European Union, or the United Kingdom, that is an international transfer, and by sending us your details you are agreeing to it.
10Security
Payments go through Stripe and card data never reaches us. The site is served over HTTPS. Our admin endpoints require a secret token. Raw IP addresses are hashed before storage rather than saved. We keep the number of places your data lives deliberately small.
No system is perfect. If we ever discover a breach affecting your data, we will email you and tell you what happened.
11Children
This is a service sold to businesses. It is not directed at anyone under 18 and we do not knowingly collect their data.
12Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle your data, we will update this page and change the date at the top. If the change is significant and we have your email because you are a customer, we will email you about it rather than quietly editing the page.
